Abstract

The objective of this project was to develop an Android camera application that can automatically analyze the road conditions in front of a snow plow vehicle and send it findings as a feed that can be incorporated into PennDOT’s Road Condition Reporting System (RCRS). In addition, the images captured by the camera are in a format that is usable by traffic management centers (TMCs) and others working in emergency operations.
