We will refine the system, thoroughly test its functionality by running various applications on it and evaluate its performance. In February we took a major step by successfully installing the hardware on a FreedomTransit bus. The first tests went well. The test application is detection of traffic signs. While the bus is driving, the edge computer looks for traffic signs and sends the corresponding images to our central server. There the images are checked with a more powerful detector and the final result is displayed on an interactive map on a webpage. The system has been running continuously for almost two months. In addition to the test application we are also collecting the full set of data (video from 5 cameras, GPS, etc.) on an external hard drive connected to the edge computer. Once a month we physically retrieve the data by swapping the hard drive. During the next reporting period we will test and evaluate other applications and improve the functionality of the system. The work will be disseminated through publications and open sourcing the code. Impacts nothing to report Other 6 Tb of GPS-tagged video has been recorded and will be used for several other CMU projects. Some of the data might become part of a public dataset.
