Two Steering Committee meetings and four public information sessions were held in Phase I. The RCI team made presentations and attended the sessions. Additional public meetings will be held in Phase II. The research client, The Quaker Valley Council of Governments, received $40,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for community outreach for Phase I and Phase II Aurora, the autonomous vehicle spinoff from CMU and an RCI research partner, provided in-kind research on the AV characteristics of the corridor. To date, 33% of the project's required match has been received and expended. The project team is in active and promising discussion with PennDOT and related partners re funding at $140,000 or greater matching grant from PennDOT and related funding for Phase II that will be meet and exceed the remaining 60,000 match required for the $90,000 UTC Mobility21 grant. The PennDOT and PennDOT related funding agreement is likely to be completed in Q2, 2020, with work beginning on or before 3Q 2020. Impacts The public information sessions have produced positive community awareness and interest in the research study. Significant additional community awareness and impact are anticipated through and and the completion of Phase II. Steve Quick, CMU project team, is preparing a proposal for the work for the upcoming PA Transportation Engineering Conference. Other The final documentation report was completed for Phase I. Outcomes New Partners We anticipate potential new partners as part of the Phase II agreement. Agreement is likely to be completed in Q2, 2020, with work beginning on or before 3Q 2020. Issues The timeline is being adjusted to reflect anticipated modifications in PennDOT and PennDOT related funding for Phase II. Anticipated project completion June 30, 2021.
